Academic education
Bachelor of Sciences, and Master of Sciences in Electrical
Engineering (1996, Communications and Electronics specialties).
I studied in Escuela Técnica
Superior de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación (ETSIT), at
University of Málaga -UMA- in Spain. I started in 1991/92 these
studies, ending with the defense of my Final Project degree titled Análisis
de guiaondas ópticas mediante técnicas espectrales con
transformación de variables, on 26/11/1996, under
the supervision of Professor Dr. Juan Gonzalo Wangüemert Pérez.
PhD. in Electrical
Engineering (Telecommunications) (2018).
In 2015/16 academic period, I
enrolled in the Doctoral Program named Programa de doctorado en
Ingeniería de Telecomunicación, ending with the defense of my
doctoral thesis titled Planificaciones TDMA óptimas en
redes submarinas de comunicación on 2018,
June the 27th. My supervisors were Professors Dr. Pablo Otero Roth
and Dr. Javier Poncela González.
Work
Associate Professor (ETSIT, UMA).
Topic area: Signal theory and Communications (Teoría de la Señal
y Comunicaciones).
I have worked as teacher in the Escuela
Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación (ETSIT),
University of Málaga (Spain) -UMA- from 1998 (January), holding
different positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor)
inside the department of Ingeniería
de Comunicaciones (ETSIT, UMA).
The Subjects covered include topics inside
communications theory (Sistemas de comunicaciones, former Comunicaciones
analógicas y digitales), systems and technical about
telecommunications (former Sistemas de conmutación), or
professional planning and deployment of engineering projects (Proyectos
y normativa de telecomunicaciones - former Proyectos de
sistemas de telecomunicaciones -, or Ingeniería de
desarrollo de sistemas de telecomunicación).
Research
Member of the Instituto Universitario de Investigación de
Ingeniería Oceánica (IIO) (University of Málaga)
From its origin in 2019, May, I have
been member and worked in research tasks as supervisor of PhD
students, international journal publications, or communications to
national and international congresses. Among my main research lines
inside IIO, can be highlighted the analysis and design of underwater
systems for: (i) positioning and location of ships (AUVs), (ii)
environment monitoring, and (iii) acoustic communications
(underwater acoustic modems).
Member of the Research Group TDIR
(TIC-128, PAIDI plan from Andalusian, Spain).
From 2019 I take part in Projects
regarding the underwater exploration and monitoring. These research
projects, are multidisciplinary including: sonar technology,
analysis and design of underwater acoustic communications networks
(i.e. sensor networks, UWSNs), and image processing. The main
objectives are: monitoring river plumes (in estuaries), enhancement
of communications protocols at UWSNs, etc.
